THIRD ANNUAL MILITARY TIMELINE WEEKEND

Helfrich Springs Grist Mill, 506 Mickley Rd., Whitehall Twp., PA

Sat. July 31 & August 1, 2010, 9AM-4PM

For a fun and educational experience, come see military re-enactors and equipment, American and foreign, from several eras of history.  Talk with soldiers and watch demonstrations to learn about military history.  This will take place on the field behind the Grim Homestead, located across the road from the historic Helfich  Springs Grist Mill.

The Grist Mill museum will be open for tours during both days of the event. At 4PM, at the end of the second day, the Pioneer Band will perform patriotic and Americana music.

Admission to all activities is free.  (Donations are accepted.) Food will be available.

John Bernaski of Oxford New Jersey , will demonstrate Civil War era wet plate photography. Bernaski is now traveling with fellow Civil War re-enactors to give others a glimpse of history and to share what he has learned about wet plate photography. He said history is addicting to him and that the more he gets involved, the more he wants to learn ... and to teach others.

  • Civil War era Sailors, mostly from the Passaic class monitor, USS Lehigh, will man a Rendezvous or Navy recruiting station in an attempt to entice young men to join the Navy..!!!!!
